my first birthday celebration.

having been brought up in the organization since age 3, the only memory of a birthday celebration i had was an old photograph of when i was 2. in front of the camera was my sister and i, with a cake baked in a regular rectangle cake pan, frosted, and with two candles sitting on top.
its weird isn't it. celebrating your first birthday...im glad that it went so well congrats...
Keep smiling the witnesses are just a joke, how can remembering your day of birth be bad just cos John the Baptist had his head cut off??

when my son came home from the meeting, he told me that they were told not to listen to eminem because (in his words) he's bad.. i can not stomach the kind of censorship that is put upon people...aren't these things a personal choice or at least a parents choice.
by censoring everything they make a child go behind their parents back and close the line of communcation which could result in some real harm.
i listened to eminem with my son and whilst some of the things are very offensive it was quite clear to me that although he was talking in the first person, he was actually expressing what he thought societal problems were,(no one think bob marley actually son the sheriff do they??).

I think the main thing is to be with your kids, take an interest so that they do not feel in anyway fearful of expressing themselves, repression is a terrible thing and can hurt the mind awfully. In this mad world all we can do is offer our children support and don't judge them..Eminem is not bad and he will be gone one day, just as soon as he arose and all that fuss will have been for nothing..

come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.
the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?
I did not have opportunity to read the entire post but Im outraged!! this man has not been around long enough to understand anything...he knows nothing of the politics of the congergation and how if your face doesn't fit you are not given the benefit of the doubt.
I'll tell you another thing I have more lovely, honest and genuine people in the world than I ever met in my old back biting cong.

last night i concluded a very lively social evening by talking with an elder who was enjoying a few late gin 'n'tonics in my local pub.. suitably booted and suited, my dubinthepub pal told me that he had just been to an elders meeting, conducted by the co.. he said that a lot of stuff was only handed down by word of mouth these days.
but, new light that he had just received, was as follows: (bear in mind that we were both pretty steamed by midnight!).
1. elders must call on all dfd ones once a year to encourage them to turn back and where necessary to have their questions answered.
If you are right, what about all the families that have been ripped apart ?? it makes me so mad, that suddenly these people who have snubbed me in the street, who have told lies about me and my partner to my children, will want to be buddies with me !! Well pardon my french but they can fuck off...true friends and family would never treat a person like a dog and my life is better without there interference. sorry but it's got my goat...we have suffered because of a stupid whim by a bunch of controlling men. I rest my case...

guess i have been out of the loop for a while!
that post about being denied priveledges if one decides to get a vasectomy is just too much.
i am truly appalled at the presumptiousness of these people who think they can control their followers to this degree.
All of this just smacks of tripe tp me. God is not going to intervene, we all believed and believe it at some point, but it is up to us to help each other. We must stop looking externally and look internally. You can not help but know that the organisation is a load of junk so other than a macabre interest in their foulings. I have seperated myself and do not embarass myself by telling others how stupid I was
PS I am marrying an ex-brother which is good cos we understand what went on. It's not a relevant point, but Im soooooo happy and wanted to tell everyone

two jw's knocked on my door peddling the watchtower and awake.
i was still in my satin pj's and had a tiara stuck on my head as i was playing make believe with my five year old.
i forgot i had it on, and they didn't seem to find that strange, lol.
I don't get visited cos I still live in the territory. But I get a buzz from watching them avoid me on the street. I used to call on all the elderley and take them places, now when I see them they can run I wonder why I was driving them everywhere !!!

I can only tell you what I have told her...You have to be strong to leave.
It is hard, no double hard to get away especially if your family are all in the truth. In our case there are some who are outside already, I'm not sure of your situation, but if there are some outside and they are close, get them to support you.
I'm not pretending it is easy cos it's not, but it can be done especially as you get older. If you can try to establish links with other worldly people like at work or college.
I hope I've been some help but don't despair, if you want out you'll find the will and if there's a will there's a way
